what Is NCYC?
The National Catholic Youth Conference is a powerful, biennial, three-day experience of prayer, community, evangelization, catechesis, and service for Catholic teenagers (of high school age) and their adult chaperones. Approximately 23,000 young people and adults attend the NCYC.
The 2017 National Catholic Youth Conference is November 16-18 in Indianapolis, with the theme Called / Llamados.
Who Participates in NCYC?
In addition to Catholic teenagers, NCYC gathers parish youth ministry coordinators, bishops, priests, deacons, religious men and women, high school campus ministers and administrators, adult chaperones, parents, and diocesan leaders. Adult leaders from all pastoral settings: schools and parishes, urban, rural, and suburban areas, and multiple cultural and ethnic groups are re-energized to serve God through their pastoral work with the young people. Thousands of youth ministers, young adult ministers, campus ministers, religious educators, clergy, and religious will learn more about the Catholic faith and effective methods for sharing the Gospel message with today's young people.
The 2017 NCYC will include tracks for parents and young adults. Parents attend not only to serve as chaperones and to experience the event with their children, but also to grow in their own faith and gain insight on teenagers and current parenting issues. Young adults also attend in an effort to grown and deepen their faith as they move into college and work and the learn to deal with the demands those new situations bring to lives. NCYC is a great opportunity to reach Catholics of multiple ages who are striving to live out their faith.
Exhibiting at NCYC
Each NCYC includes a "thematic village" (formerly thematic park) which combines traditional exhibiting with active service, artistic, and recreational opportunities, as well as catechetical and educational experiences for the participants. The village also features a number of Catholic musicians and entertainers as well as religious communities and Catholic colleges and universities.
The village gathers an extensive array of providers of catechetical and youth ministry resource materials, advocacy groups, and national youth-serving organizations. These companies and organizations market a variety of products, services, and resources for youth and for adults serving the young church. Expo exhibitors have a unique opportunity to share their services, products, and resources Catholic youth ministry leaders including diocesan directors of youth ministry, parish youth ministry coordinators, school campus ministers, directors of religious education, pastors, diocesan staff, teachers, catechists, and volunteers, who are always in need of innovative ways to engage young people in their faith.
