Adults present at NCYC in capacities such as artists, exhibitors, speakers, etc. must comply with a diocesan safe environment program.

For those already cleared for service with young people in their home diocese, the Archdiocese of Indianapolis has created the Safe Environment and Youth Protection Affidavit which must be signed by the diocesan safe environment coordinator. (Click here for the list of diocesan safe environment coordinators.) Completed forms should be sent to Ana Hernandez at ahernandez@archindy.org.

For those who are not already cleared for service through their home diocese, the Archdiocese of Indianapolis requires they comply with the Archdiocese's safe environment program, Safe and Sacred. Safe and Sacred is an on-line program that is available in English and Spanish, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The program educates participants about how to recognize and address signs of abuse and neglect and create appropriate boundaries. The process also incorporates the authorization of a criminal background check to ensure that the adult has not committed an offense that would disqualify him/her from working with young people. Safe and Sacred credentials (education and background check) are valid for three years. Anyone who completed the program in calendar year 2015 (or after) still have valid credentials, but are encouraged to log into their account to view updated education modules. For 2017, the program should be completed no later than November 3, 2017, so that background checks can be run in time for NCYC.
