All adults at NCYC must be compliant with a safe environment/youth protection program.

Adults Participating with a Delegation

Adults traveling to NCYC as part of a delegation must be compliant with their diocesan program. It is incumbent on the delegation to verify the status of each adult member of the delegation. NFCYM requires that each delegation submit a form to NFCYM attesting to this. Failure to submit the form will result in the delegation being denied their credentials onsite and barred from entry to NCYC events.

Adults Participating in Other Capacities

Adults present at NCYC in other capacities (artists, exhibitors, speakers, etc.) must complete the Archdiocese of Indianapolis' program, Safe and Sacred. Safe and Sacred is an on-line, safe-environment program that is available in English and Spanish, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The program educates participants about how to recognize and address signs of abuse and neglect and create appropriate boundaries. The process also incorporates the authorization of a criminal background check to ensure that the adult has not committed an offense that would disqualify him/her from working with young people. Safe and Sacred credentials (education and background check) are valid for three years. Anyone who completed the program in calendar year 2015 (or after) still have valid credentials, but are encouraged to log into their account to view updated education modules.

For 2017, new artists, exhibitors, speakers, staff, volunteers, etc. should complete the program no later than November 1, 2017, so that background checks can be run in time for NCYC.
