Prayer underpins every aspect of NCYC. It starts with preparation and goes through the entire event. All general sessions and breakouts include prayer and moments for personal reflection. Participants will find multiple opportunities to experience different types of prayer, attend Mass daily, and take part in the sacrament of penance.

LOS: Friday, 7:45 pm to 9:00 pm

The Archdiocese of Indianapolis requires priests to submit a letter of suitability in advance of NCYC in order to be allowed to concelebrate liturgies or hear confessions. This is a common practice and priests should know how to obtain this letter. (It is acceptable for one letter to cover all the priests attending from a delegation as long as each is listed in the body of the letter.) Letters of suitability should be addressed to the Office of Youth Ministry, Archdiocese of Indianapolis, ATTN: NCYC Clergy, PO Box 1410, Indianapolis, IN 46206-1410. The hard copy may be mailed to that address and/or a PDF copy may be emailed to clergyncyc@archindy.org.

Priests will be able to sign up to concelebrate Mass and for a shift in the Reconciliation Room through an online scheduling system. The system will open in September.

Procession and Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament

Again in 2017, NCYC will feature a procession of the Blessed Sacrament from St. John’s Church to the Indiana Convention Center. The procession will take place Thursday evening at approximately 5:15 pm. There will be a brief time of adoration followed by vespers and benediction at 6:20 pm. The Blessed Sacrament will remain in repose in the Indiana Convention Center and will be exposed at times during programming hours. The general session in Lucas Oil Stadium on Friday evening will also feature adoration.
